The Beantown Swing Orchestra continues its first Saturday swing dances in Concord, this time at the Performing Arts Center at 51 Walden, across the street and two buildings over from the Scout House.

Elizabeth Miller and Davis Thurber will give a beginner Lindy Hop lesson at 8:00pm, which is free with admission and no partner is required.  Because the "followers" rotate through the "leaders," it's a great way to meet people before the dance begins.

During the band's half-hour break, there will be a beginner aerials workshop with Elizabeth and Davis, conveniently taking place upstairs in the dance studio.  You'll learn another simple lift which is common in Lindy Hop dancing, such asElizabeth and Davis perform the A-Frame the Saxophone.  Although no aerials experience is required, you do need to have a partner, and the cost is $10 per person.  Due to the size of the studio, the class will be limited to 15 couplesso please reserve your spot now by sending an e-mail to director@beantownswing.com.

And, of course, the 18-piece Beantown Swing Orchestra will get the dance floor swinging with its classic big band arrangements from the 1930s and 1940s.  The band mainly consists of college students from Berklee and NEC, as well as some recent grads.  There is plenty of energy here to get the place swinging all night long!

The Performing Arts Center at 51 Walden, located in beautiful historic downtown Concord Center, is a Queen Anne shingled building constructed in 1892.  The main hall is used primarily for theatrical performances but also for band and orchestra concerts and dances.   Acoustical enhancements have been made to provide an optimal musical experience without the use of excessive amplification.

Parking is readily available on the street or in nearby public lots (but please do not park in the church lot across the street).  If taking public transportation, the Concord station of the commuter rail (Fitchburg line) is a six minute walk to the venue.
